Chakram
Use WASD to move the player character. Click the left mouse button to throw out the Chakram which is controlled by the mouse. After a little while the Chakram will lose momentum and fall to the ground. When this happen, approach it to pick it up again.
Try to get through all the rooms in the dungeon!
Contribution an design: The idea of this game was to have a unique game play mechanic that the game would be build off of. The first level of the game introduces the Chakram mechanic by allowing the player to test it out in a safe zone without any danger of failing. The second level tests users control of the Chakram by challenging them to hit all the switches before one of them becomes deactivated. It's important to note that the player can't die so this level forces the user to understand how the Chakram moves before moving to the next level. The last level, Level 3, introduces enemies that can kill the player. The player must defeat all enemies to win the game.
Gameplay goal: Advancement and completion, and application of an ability.
Application of ability: The use must understand how the Chakram moves in order to complete levels. The user can't just use the player character to solve all the puzzles.
Advancement and completion: as described above, their is a fair advancement to the challenge of the game. By level 3, The user will have to multitask by using both the player character and the Chakram to advance.
Workload: The script for the Chakram, switches, enemies, and the player character was done by me. UI scripts were the ones used in class. Art and music assest were acquired from gamedev market.
If I had more time, I would have liked to make my own sprite assets and music. I would also like to fix the Chakram movement as it can be a little finicky. Other then that, I'm happy with how it turned out and I hope to continue working on it in the future.
The browser version of the game has some issues with the mouse following for the Chakram and resolution size. The win text also doesn't show up in that version for some reason. I would recommend the windows or mac versions of the game for playing due to those issues.
